Honoring the Life and Legacy of SFC Gilbert Garcia
SFC Gilbert Garcia
January 27, 1986 – February 19, 2021
Today, we share the story of a remarkable man, SFC Gilbert Garcia, whose life touched so many and whose memory continues to inspire. Born in Dallas, Texas, on January 27, 1986, to Jose and Edith Garcia, Gilbert dedicated his life to service, education, and family.
A proud member of the U.S. Army Special Forces, Gilbert served 14 honorable years with the 3rd and 19th Special Forces Groups (Airborne). His courage and commitment to his country earned him the admiration of those who served beside him. But beyond the uniform, Gilbert was an engineer, a lifelong learner, and above all, a devoted father to Nathan and Madeline.
On February 19, 2021, Gilbert tragically lost his battle with PTSD. His passing is a profound reminder of the silent struggles many of our veterans face. Yet, in his life, he was a beacon of strength, love, and resilience.
Alongside life celebrant Dawn Lee Wakefield, we traveled to Dallas to film a celebration of Gilbert’s extraordinary life. It was a day filled with stories of his brilliance, his humor, and the unshakable love he had for his family and country.
We remember his service.
